Hot Pink Chocolate

Hot Pink Pitaya Chocolate-1
What’s your impression of hot chocolate? I always think of it as warm and sweet indulgence — but can be too sweet at times to consume often. In order to resolve this issue, I experimented with cacao butter.

Cacao butter is known to be full of nutrients, healthy fats, and antioxidants. I used the cacao butter from Navitas Organics. It has 0g of sugar and no added sugar. On top of that, it’s delicious! The hot chocolate I made with this cacao butter hits the spot!

As part of my Valentine’s series of sweet pink treat ideas, I turned the hot chocolate pink with some pitaya powder from Suncore Foods. My family loves it! For this Valentine’s Day, why not warm up the hearts and bellies of your loved ones with a healthy cup of Hot Pink Chocolate?

Here’s the recipe:ย 3 cups of Silk vanilla soy milk*, 3 tablespoons of cacao butter, and 1 1/2 tablespoons of pitaya powder

  1. Heat 2 2/3 cups of soy milk into a pot on medium heat
  2. Add cacao butter into the pot of soy milk
  3. Pour 1/3 of soy milk into a bowl or measuring cup
  4. Add pitaya powder into 1/3 of soy milk
  5. Whisk pitaya powder well with soy milk until the milk turns pink
  6. Add the pitaya soy milk into the pot of cacao butter soy milk
  7. Pour chocolate milk through a sieve into serving cups
  8. Use a spoon to skim the oil off the milk and voila — hot pink chocolate!!

Step 8 is optional but helps with presentation.

Depending on the size of your cups, this recipe makes 2-3 cups of hot chocolate.

*If you prefer to use unsweetened milk, this recipe works well, too!
